4. There is no magic “Fix it” button. Everything takes some amount of work to fix, and not everything is worth fixing or even possible to fix. If I say that you just need to re-do a document that you accidentally deleted 2 months ago, please don’t get mad at me. I’m not ignoring your problem, and it’s not that I don’t like you, I just cant always fix everything.
8. Yes, I prefer email over telephone calls. It has nothing to do with being friendly, it’s about efficiency. It is much faster and easier for me to list out a set of questions that I need you to answer than it is for me to call and ask you them one by one. You can find the answers at your leisure and while I’m waiting I can work on other problems.

Sharkrunners
Sharkrunners ist eine sehr tolle Spielidee. Man bekommt ein Boot und eine Crew und muss Haie erkunden. Das Spiel läuft in Echtzeit, man kann seinem Schiff also Wegpunkte vorgeben und dann andere Dinge tun (work, anyone?) Die Haie die man sucht, werden allerdings nicht von einem Computer gesteuert sondern von echten (weissen) Haien die mit GPS-Sendern ausgestattet sind.
Wenn das Boot dann einen Hai gefunden hat bekommt man eine Mail oder eine SMS und hat dann drei Stunden Zeit zu entscheiden wie man den Hai erforschen möchte. Ein Tauchgang mit zwei Personen ist teuerer und gefährlicher als ein Einzeltauchgang, je nach Art gibt es andere Daten und so weiter…
Für erfolgreiche Erforschungen erhält man Geld und Videos von Haien, so kann man sich dann mehr Crew-Mitglieder oder ein besseres Boot leisten.

iPhone betatschen
Wie bereits angekündigt war ich heute kurz bei Gravis in Essen um das iPhone mal selbst in der Hand zu halten.
Das Teil hat schon einen erheblichen Wow-Faktor. Die Haptik lässt sich am besten als griffiger Handschmeichler“ beschreiben.
Das Hauptmenü schaut aus wie eine in die Realität übertragene Version der Werbespots. Der Browser ist (über WLAN) schnell, das Zoomen in die Sites ist simpel. Ausserdem war instant-thinking.de schon in der Browser-Historie (Mathias, warst du das?).
Die Foto und iPod Funktionen waren ebenfalls butterweich und sehr simpel zu nutzen. Die Kamera macht (im hellen) ganz ansehnliche Fotos. Die YouTube-Anwendung war auch nett, ist aber IMHO ziemlich überflüssig.
Das einzige was mir nicht auf Anhieb total sympathisch war, ist die Onscreen-Tastatur. Aber ich vermute daran kann man sich recht schnell gewöhnen, vor allem wenn die deutsche Worterkennung mal funktioniert…
Trotzdem, erst mal sehen wie die europäischen Vertragskonditionen so ausschauen und ob die EU-Version mit UMTS aufwarten kann.
Das iPhone ist noch bis zum 8. August in Essen und dann wieder Ende des Monats vom 24. bis zum 29. August. Ein paar mehr Fotos von mir gibt es bei Flickr…
