Es wiederholte sich alljährlich. Der Empfänger der Blume feierte seinen zweiundachtzigsten Geburtstag. Sowie die Blume bei ihm angekommen war, öffnete er das Paket und entfernte das Geschenkpapier. Danach griff er zum Telefonhörer und wählte die Nummer eines ehemaligen Kriminalkommissars, der sich nach seiner Pensionierung am Siljan-See niedergelassen hatte. Die beiden Männer waren nicht nur gleich alt, sie waren sogar am selben Tag geboren, was in diesem Zusammenhang nciht einer gewissen Ironie entbehrte. Der Kommissar wusste, dass der Anruf um elf Uhr morgens nach der Postzustellung eingehen würde, und trank Kaffee, während er wartete. Dieses Jahr klingelte das Telefon bereits um halb elf. Er nahm den Hörer ab und sagte hallo, ohne sich mit Namen zu melden.
“Sie ist angekommen.”
Na das war mal ein spannendes Buch.
Empfohlen, geradezu aufgedrängt wurde es mir von meiner Mom. Sie hatte allerdings nicht zu viel versprochen als sie mir versicherte, dass ich dieses Buch kaum aus der Hand legen würde bis ich es ausgelesen hatte.
Es geht um die Aufklärung eines 40 Jahre vergangenen Mordes im Umfeld einer schwedischen Familie von Großindustriellen. Der Mann der den Fall aufklären soll ist eigentlich Wirtschaftsjournalist und wird unterstützt von einer jungen Frau mit einem ausserordentlichem Talent für Computer und einer ausserordentlichen Schwäche in sozialem Umgang.
Dieses Duo ist von Anfang an furchtbar sympathisch und geht den Fall mit Methoden an, auf die in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten einfach niemand gekommen ist.
Ausserdem zeichnet sich das Buch durch einen geradezu mörderischen Konsum von Kaffee und der exakten Beschreibung von Apple-Hardware aus. Beides Elemente die ich mir in deutlich mehr Büchern wünschen würde…
Das Buch ist ausserdem das erste aus einer Trilogie mit den selben Protagonisten.
Diese drei Bücher sind die einzigen Romane die der Autor vor seinem Tod im Jahr 2004 verfassen konnte. Die schwedische Premiere der Verfilmung ist für den Januar 2009 geplant, einen ersten Teaser gibt es schon bei Youtube.
