Nicht genug damit, dass man hin und wieder mal eine seiner EyeTV Aufnahmen auf ein optisches Medium bannen muss, manchmal hat man sogar eine *.AVI Datei die jemand gerne auf seinem DVD-Player wiedergeben möchte.
Das Tolle ist: Das klappt super einfach mit OS X Bordmitteln, genauer mit iDVD.
Das Blöde: Es dauert eine ganze Weile, denn die Quelldatei muss vor dem Brennen in DVD-taugliches MPEG-2 codiert werden. Aber da muss man dann halt durch…
So gehts:
- iDVD öffnen und ein neues Projekt anlegen. Der Name des Projekts wird später der Name der DVD. Ausserdem kann man schon hier das passende Seitenverhältnis (4:3 oder 16:9 auswählen).
- In iDVD klickt man nun auf den Button für den DVD-Aufbau.
- Dort droppt man die AVI-Datei auf das Feld für den automatischen Start.

- Je nachdem wie lang der Film ist und ob man eine Single- oder Double-Layer DVD verwendet muss man nun noch die Kodierung unter Projekt -> Projektinfo ändern. Hohe Qualität sorgt hier in der Regel für gute Ergebnisse, besser ist es natürliche eine DL-DVD zu verwenden und die Qualität voll auf zu drehen.
- Um das Menü komplett abzuschalten wählt man für den Film jetzt noch Erweitert -> Film als Endlosschleife. In dem Feld des Films erscheint dann unten rechts ein rundes Pfeil-Icon.
- Auf Brennen klicken, die Warnung über die leeren Drop-Zones ignorieren und vielleicht mal etwas essen gehen. Auf meinem MacBook dauert der Vorgang in der Regel ca. 2 Stunden.
Wenn man möchte kann man natürlich auch die gesamten Möglichkeiten von iDVD ausschöpfen und ein Startmenü mit Dropzones, Fotogalerien, Kapitelmarken und Sternchen dran erstellen. In der Regel wird aber das hier beschriebene Vorgehen für die beste Experience des Users sorgen: Einlegen, läuft, freuen.
