			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Wie vor einigen Tagen <a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/08/storage-oder-wohin-mit-dem-ganzen-kram/" class="liinternal">bereits ausgef&#252;hrt</a>, gibt es bei uns zuhause <a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/07/08/the-klapperstorch-has-landed/" class="liinternal">famili&#228;re</a> und, dadurch bedingt, bauliche Ver&#228;nderungen.</p>

<p>Womit, um Himmels Willen, f&#228;ngt man als Geek also an?</p>

<p><em>Nat&#252;rlich</em> mit diesem ganzen Computerkram der in der Gegend rumsteht, blinkt, summt und auch sonst Sehr Wichtige Dinge&reg; veranstaltet. Das bl&#246;de ist eben, dass dieses Blinken, Summen und Sehr Wichtige Dinge&reg; tun, derzeit haupts&#228;chlich in dem zuk&#252;nftigen Kinderzimmer statt findet.</p>

<p>Ich habe die aktuellen Gegebenheiten f&#252;r unsere Wohnung mal aufgemalt:</p>

<p>Und nach dem Klick erkl&#228;re ich euch das alles&#8230;</p>

<p><strong>Arbeitszimmer</strong></p>

<p>Sehr ihr den ganzen Kram, der sich hier angesammelt hat? Ihr k&#246;nnt euch kaum <em>vorstellen</em> wie viele Meter Kabel das sind&#8230;</p>

<p>Da steht der vielbesch&#228;ftigte <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Mac_G4_Cube" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">Cube</a>, an den auch noch zwei<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_0_2513" id="identifier_0_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="nicht abgebildete">1</a></sup> externe Festplatten angeschlossen sind und der als zentraler Server f&#252;r Total Viel&trade; dient. Dazu eine alte Linux- und eine antike FreeBSD-Installation auf jeweils pr&#228;historischer Hardware, die heute beide eigentlich nicht mehr viel machen ausser Staub zu sammeln. Ich glaube zuletzt eingeschaltet waren die 2007 oder 2008&#8230;</p>

<p>Ausserdem h&#228;ngt ein kleiner 8-Port 100 MBit Switch an der Wand. Dieser stellt den <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backbone_(Telekommunikation)" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">Backbone</a><sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_1_2513" id="identifier_1_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="etwas hochtrabend aber durchaus korrekt formuliert">2</a></sup> des Netzwerks da. Wenn mein MacBook auf dem Schreibtisch steht wird es hier angeschlossen und mit 100 MBit versorgt. Das ist zum Beispiel dann sehr sinnvoll, wenn gr&#246;&#223;ere Datenmengen zu &#252;bertragen sind.</p>

<p>An diesem Switch h&#228;ngt ausserdem eine <a href="http://www.apple.com/de/airportexpress/" class="liexternal">Airport Express</a>, die zusammen mit ihrem Schwester-Ger&#228;t aus dem Wohnzimmer und der <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/der_dennis/4547646970/" class="liflickr">Airport Extreme auf dem Schuhschrank</a> ein <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Distribution_System" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">WDS</a> bildet und somit eine Funkbr&#252;cke &#252;ber den Flur in die Abstellkammer schl&#228;gt<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_2_2513" id="identifier_2_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="So konnte auf ein h&auml;ssliches Kabel quer &uuml;ber den Flur verzichtet werden, ganz gro&szlig;er WAF-Vorteil&hellip;">3</a></sup>. Diese Airport Express im Arbeitszimmer ist daher die Anbindung an das Internet f&#252;r das gesamte heimische Netzwerk. Quasi nebenbei bietet die Airport Express ausserdem per <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonjour_(Apple)" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">Bonjour</a> die Dienste eines HP-Druckers an und bindet die <a href="http://www.harmankardon.com/EN-US/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=SOUNDSTICKSII" class="liexternal">Soundsticks</a> als ein Ziel f&#252;r <a href="http://www.apple.com/de/airportexpress/features/airtunes.html" class="liexternal">AirTunes</a> ins Netzwerk ein.</p>

<p><strong>Flur und Abstellkammer</strong></p>

<p>Im Flur steht, wie oben erw&#228;hnt, die Airport Extreme auf dem Schuhschrank. Sie ist die Masterstation des WDS und per Kabel durch die Wand mit dem Router in der Abstellkammer verbunden. Bei diesem handelt es sich um<a href="http://www.pcengines.ch/wrap1e203.htm" class="liexternal"> ein 3-Port WRAP-Board</a> im Blechgeh&#228;use. Betrieben wird der Router von einer CF-Karte mit <a href="http://m0n0.ch/wall/" class="liexternal">m0n0wall</a>, einem embedded FreeBSD das sich auf Routing- und Firewall-Funktionen spezialisiert hat. Diese praktische kleine Box ist auch f&#252;r DHCP- und DNS-Dienste des lokalen Netzes verantwortlich.</p>

<p>Neben dem Router an der Wand h&#228;ngt noch DSL-Hardware wie Splitter, Modem und der NTBA. In der Abstellkammer ist es daher immer etwas w&#228;rmer als im Flur&#8230;</p>

<p><strong>Wohnzimmer</strong></p>

<p>Im Wohnzimmer steht der Mac mini als Medienzentrale und digitaler Videorecoder<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_3_2513" id="identifier_3_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Auch mal ein sch&ouml;nes Thema f&uuml;r einen zuk&uuml;nftigen Post&hellip;">4</a></sup>. F&#252;r den Media-Output ist er an den Receiver<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_4_2513" id="identifier_4_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="optical TOS-Link">5</a></sup> und den Fernseher<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_5_2513" id="identifier_5_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="DVI">6</a></sup> angeschlossen. Netzwerkseitig wird er per Kabel durch die Wand an den Switch im benachbarten Arbeitszimmer angebunden. Die Airport Express im Wohnzimmer dient ausschliesslich dazu, den Receiver als AirTunes Ziel verf&#252;gbar zu machen und ist Teil des WDS.</p>

<p><strong>WLAN</strong></p>

<p>Neben meinem MacBook tummeln sich noch unsere iPhones und Kathis NetBook im kabellosen Netz.</p>

<p><em>Puh</em>. Schon viel Zeugs&#8230;</p>

<p><strong>Plan f&#252;r die Zukunft</strong></p>

<p>Gut, der Plan ist also, das jetzige, mit Computern und Infrastruktur vollgestellte Arbeitszimmer in das zuk&#252;nftige, computerfreie<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_6_2513" id="identifier_6_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Wie lange das so bleiben wird ist eine ganz andere Frage&hellip;">7</a></sup> Kinderzimmer zu verwandeln. Dabei sollen alle aktuellen Funktionen des Netzes erhalten bleiben. Durch das schlanke Design des Netzes und den Austausch einiger Komponenten werden sich au&#223;erdem manche Verbesserungen ergeben. So zum Beispiel eine Erh&#246;hung der Geschwindigkeit des Netzes und eine Senkung des Energieverbrauchs.</p>

<p>Ich habe den Plan f&#252;r die Zukunft auch aufgemalt:</p>

<p>Hier gibt es station&#228;re Hardware und dauerhafte Verkabelung nur noch im Wohnzimmer.</p>

<p>Das Airport WDS und der 100 MBit Switch werden durch eine <a href="http://www.apple.com/de/timecapsule/" class="liexternal">Time Capsule</a> ersetzt. Diese bringt das kabellose Netz auf den <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11n" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">802.11n</a> Standard und das kabelgebundene Netz auf Gigabit-Ethernet.</p>

<p><em>Speed Baby</em>!</p>

<p>Gleichzeitig wird hier der Drucker angeschlossen<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_7_2513" id="identifier_7_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="und in einem Schrank versteckt, es gibt IMHO keine schicke M&ouml;glichkeit einen Drucker in ein Wohnzimmer zu integrieren&hellip;">8</a></sup>, das lokale Backup erledigt und das Heim Netzwerk ins Internet gebracht. Der Internet-Anschluss wird nicht mehr per DSL &#252;ber die TAE-Dose im Flur geschaltet<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_8_2513" id="identifier_8_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="deren Platzierung nur ein sadistisch veranlagter Innenarchitekt ersonnen haben kann&hellip;">9</a></sup>, sondern &#252;ber die im Wohnzimmer verf&#252;gbare Koax-Dose des Kabelfernsehens gef&#252;hrt. Die Geschwindigkeiten des Internet-Anschlusses werden durch diesen Schritt von 2 MBit/s Downstream und 348 KBit/s Upstream auf 32 MBit/s Downstream und 1 Mbit/s Upstream verbessert.</p>

<p><em>Speed Baby</em>!</p>

<p>Der Mac mini bleibt im Wohnzimmer und &#252;bernimmt die beiden externen Festplatten<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_9_2513" id="identifier_9_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Werden ebenfalls im Schrank versteckt">10</a></sup> vom Cube. Die Mediendaten sind eh schon da drauf und m&#252;ssen dann nicht mehr &#252;ber das Netzwerk angeliefert werden. Gleichzeitig &#252;bernimmt der mini die Verantwortung f&#252;r die Sehr Wichtigen Dinge&reg; die der Cube vorher erledigt hat. Die Soundsticks wandern ebenfalls aus dem Arbeitszimmer ins Wohnzimmer und bilden anstelle des fetten 5.1 Receivers plus Boxensystem die verschlankte Audio-Output Option des mini. Dazu sehen die Sticks einfach schick aus. Der Fernseher bleibt nach wie vor wo er ist.</p>

<p>Der Cube wird dann aus unserer Wohnung ausziehen und als Backup-Ziel f&#252;r das MacBook meiner Schwester dienen. Mittelfristig ergibt sich so eine Option f&#252;r Offsite-Backups<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_10_2513" id="identifier_10_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Hey, ich habe immerhin eine Diplomarbeit &uuml;ber dieses Zeugs geschrieben&hellip;">11</a></sup>. Genauso wie <a href="http://aws.amazon.com/de/s3/" class="liexternal">S3</a> von den <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Web_Services" rel="nofollow" class="liwikipedia">Amazon Web Services</a><sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_11_2513" id="identifier_11_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Nur mit deutlich weniger Bandbreite und Storage halt">12</a></sup>, ist der Cube dann &#252;ber das Internet zu erreichen, steht aber nicht im Weg rum.</p>

<p>Zu den kabellosen Ger&#228;ten wird sich eines Tages die zweite Generation des <a href="http://www.apple.com/de/ipad/" class="liexternal">iPad</a> gesellen.</p>

<p>Ausserdem habe ich in der Zeichnung schon mal mein 2007er 13&#8243; MacBook gegen ein aktuelles 15&#8243; <a href="http://www.apple.com/de/macbookpro/" class="liexternal">MacBook Pro</a> ausgetauscht. Ohne die Option, das MacBook im Arbeitszimmer an einen zweiten Monitor anzuschliessen ist mehr Display einfach notwendig<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_12_2513" id="identifier_12_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Wann diese Notwendigkeit durch die familieninterne Finanz-Kommission anerkannt wird ist eine andere Sache">13</a></sup>&#8230;</p>

<p>Diesen beiden geplanten Neuanschaffungen<sup><a href="http://instant-thinking.de/2010/08/26/home-network-redesign/#footnote_13_2513" id="identifier_13_2513" class="footnote-link footnote-identifier-link" title="Und eine ist ja quasi mehr ein Austausch&hellip;">14</a></sup> steht ausserdem die Abschaffung der folgenden Ger&#228;tschaften gegen&#252;ber:</p>

<p>Und das ist ja mal gar nicht so verkehrt. Wenn ich viel Zeit und Lust habe, k&#246;nnte ich das alles noch mal an einen Stromkostenz&#228;hler h&#228;ngen, da kommt sicherlich die eine oder andere Kilowattstunde zusammen&#8230;</p>

<p>So, jetzt muss das ganze nur noch umgesetzt werden. Ich werde berichten.</p>
